Composition

Each tablet contains:

• Alfacalcidol – 0.5 µg

Indications (Uses)

ALPHA-VIT is indicated for the prevention and treatment of conditions associated with vitamin D deficiency and impaired calcium metabolism, including:

• Vitamin D deficiency
• Osteoporosis
• Osteomalacia (softening of bones)
• Renal osteodystrophy (bone disease associated with chronic kidney disease)
• Hypocalcemia (low blood calcium levels)
• Hypoparathyroidism
• Bone health support in elderly patients

Mechanism of Action

Alfacalcidol is an active vitamin D analogue that is converted in the liver to calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D. It works by:

• Increasing calcium and phosphate absorption from the intestine
• Supporting bone mineralization and strength
• Maintaining normal blood calcium levels
• Improving bone health and reducing the risk of fractures in appropriate patients

Dosage and Administration

• Take as directed by your physician.
• Can be taken with or without food.
• Swallow the tablet whole with water.
• Dosage depends on the patient’s condition and blood calcium levels.

Common Side Effects

• Increased blood calcium levels (hypercalcemia)
• Nausea
• Constipation
• Loss of appetite
