Composition

Each tablet contains:

• Ondansetron USP – 8 mg

Indications (Uses)

Onitron 8 mg is indicated for the prevention and treatment of:

• Nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy
• Radiation-induced nausea and vomiting
• Post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV)
• Acute nausea and vomiting due to gastroenteritis or other medical conditions (as prescribed)

Mechanism of Action

Ondansetron is a selective serotonin (5-HT3) receptor antagonist. It works by blocking serotonin receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract that trigger nausea and vomiting, providing fast and effective symptom relief.

Dosage and Administration

• Take as directed by your physician.
• Can be taken with or without food.
• Swallow the tablet whole with water.
• The dosage depends on the patient’s age, medical condition, and the cause of nausea or vomiting.

• Headache
• Constipation
• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Flushing
• Mild diarrhea

Warnings and Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with liver impairment.
• May cause changes in heart rhythm (QT prolongation); caution is advised in patients with heart disease or those taking medications that affect the QT interval.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
• Seek medical attention if you experience irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, or fainting.

Drug Interactions

Use with caution if taking:

• Other medicines that prolong the QT interval
• Apomorphine (contraindicated)
• SSRIs or SNRIs (may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome)
• Certain antiarrhythmic medications
