Description
Composition
Each gram contains:
- Clindamycin Phosphate U.S.P., equivalent to Clindamycin (strength as stated on the product label).
Indications (Uses)
Calinol-V Vaginal Cream is indicated for the treatment of:
- Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) caused by susceptible bacteria
- Abnormal vaginal discharge associated with bacterial infection
- Vaginal odor caused by bacterial vaginosis
Note: This medicine is not effective against fungal (yeast) infections or viral infections.
Mechanism of Action
Clindamycin is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, helping eliminate bacteria responsible for bacterial vaginosis and restoring the normal vaginal flora.
Dosage and Administration
- Use only as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
- The cream is applied intravaginally using the supplied applicator.
- A common regimen is one full applicator (approximately 5 g) at bedtime for 7 consecutive days, unless otherwise directed by your physician.
- Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
Common Side Effects
- Vaginal irritation or itching
- Burning sensation
- Vaginal discharge
- Mild abdominal cramps
- Nausea
- Yeast (fungal) infection after treatment
Warnings and Precautions
- For vaginal use only; do not swallow or apply to the eyes.
- Avoid sexual intercourse or use of latex condoms/diaphragms during treatment and for several days after treatment if advised, as the cream may weaken latex products.
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, or antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
- Consult your healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Discontinue use and seek medical advice if severe diarrhea or an allergic reaction occurs.
Storage
- Store below 30°C.
- Keep the tube tightly closed.
- Protect from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
