Description
Composition
Each tablet contains:
- Rosuvastatin Calcium USP, equivalent to Rosuvastatin 5 mg
Indications (Uses)
Rosucal 5 mg is indicated for:
- Primary hypercholesterolemia (high LDL cholesterol)
- Mixed dyslipidemia
- Elevated triglyceride levels (along with diet and exercise)
- Familial hypercholesterolemia
- Prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke in patients at increased risk
- Slowing the progression of atherosclerosis
Mechanism of Action
Rosuvastatin works by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the liver, which:
- Lowers LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
- Reduces total cholesterol and triglycerides
- Increases HDL (“good”) cholesterol
- Helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
Dosage and Administration
- Take one tablet once daily, or as directed by your physician.
- Can be taken with or without food.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
- Continue following a cholesterol-lowering diet and healthy lifestyle during treatment.

Warnings and Precautions
- Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Use cautiously in patients with liver disease or kidney impairment.
- Inform your doctor if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever.
- Regular monitoring of cholesterol levels and liver function may be recommended.
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medicine.
