Description

Composition

Each film-coated tablet contains:

• Montelukast Sodium equivalent to Montelukast 10 mg.

Indications (Uses)

Montelukast 10 mg Tablets are indicated for:

• Maintenance treatment of asthma
• Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (exercise-induced asthma)
• Relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
• Relief of perennial allergic rhinitis (year-round allergies), when prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Mechanism of Action

Montelukast blocks leukotrienes, inflammatory chemicals that cause airway narrowing, swelling, and allergy symptoms. This helps improve breathing and reduce allergy symptoms.

Dosage & Administration

• Adults and adolescents (15 years and older): 10 mg once daily, usually taken in the evening for asthma.
• Can be taken with or without food.
• Continue taking it regularly even if symptoms improve.
• Not intended to treat sudden asthma attacks. A rescue inhaler should be used for acute attacks.

• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhea
• Fever
• Cough
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Fatigue

Important Warnings

• Rarely, montelukast may cause mood or behavior changes, including agitation, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, or suicidal thoughts. Contact a healthcare provider immediately if these occur.
• Inform your doctor if you have liver disease or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Do not use if you have:

• A known allergy to montelukast or any of the tablet ingredients.

Storage

• Store below 30°C.
• Keep in the original package, protected from moisture and light.
• Keep out of reach of children.
