Desloratadine is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria (hives).

Desloratadine works by selectively blocking histamine H1 receptors, reducing the effects of histamine during an allergic reaction.

3. Usage / Dosage

Because this is a 2.5 mg/5 mL formulation:

For children under 6 years, dosing should follow the pediatric product information/doctor’s recommendation; don’t automatically use the adult dose.

How to take:

• Shake the bottle well before use.
• Measure the dose accurately using an oral measuring device.
• May be taken with or without food.
• Do not exceed the recommended dose.

4. Contraindications

Do not use in patients with:

• Known allergy to desloratadine
• Hypersensitivity to loratadine or any formulation ingredient

Use caution in patients with significant kidney or liver impairment.

• Fatigue
• Sore throat
• Drowsiness in some patients

Rare but serious:

6. Warnings & Precautions

• Although described as non-sedating, some people can experience drowsiness.
• Avoid driving or operating machinery if drowsiness occurs.
• Use carefully in patients with kidney disease.
• Inform the doctor about other medicines being taken.
• Do not give more frequently than prescribed.

7. Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use desloratadine only after consultation with a healthcare professional.
