Aceclofenac is a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory medicine used for various musculoskeletal and joint conditions.

Aceclofenac 100 mg may be prescribed for:

• Osteoarthritis
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Ankylosing spondylitis
• Musculoskeletal pain and inflammation
• Joint pain, stiffness and swelling
• Acute painful inflammatory conditions, as directed by a physician

Aceclofenac works mainly by reducing the production of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation.

3. Usual Dosage / Usage

Adults: The commonly recommended dose is 100 mg twice daily, usually taken approximately 12 hours apart.

• Take the tablet with or after food to reduce stomach irritation.
• Swallow with water.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest appropriate duration.
• Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Elderly patients and people with kidney, liver, cardiovascular or gastrointestinal problems may require special consideration.

4. Contraindications

Aceclofenac should generally be avoided in patients with:

• Allergy to aceclofenac, aspirin or other NSAIDs
• Previous NSAID-associated asthma, bronchospasm or allergic reaction
• Active or previous peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding
• Severe kidney or liver impairment
• Severe heart failure
• Established ischemic heart disease or certain cardiovascular conditions
• Pregnancy, particularly the third trimester

5. Side Effects

Common:

• Indigestion/dyspepsia
• Stomach pain
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Dizziness
• Headache

Serious—seek medical attention:

• Black or bloody stools
• Vomiting blood
• Severe abdominal pain
• Difficulty breathing or facial swelling
• Severe skin rash/blistering
• Chest pain or sudden weakness
• Significant reduction in urine

6. Warnings & Precautions

Use with caution in patients with:

• High blood pressure
• Heart disease
• Kidney or liver disease
• History of stomach ulcer/bleeding
• Asthma
• Dehydration
• Older age

Avoid taking aceclofenac together with other NSAIDs such as diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen or high-dose aspirin unless specifically instructed by a doctor.

Long-term NSAID treatment can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, kidney problems and cardiovascular events.

7. Drug Interactions

Important interactions can occur with:

• Anticoagulants such as warfarin
• Aspirin and other NSAIDs
• Corticosteroids
• ACE inhibitors/ARBs
• Diuretics
• Lithium
• Methotrexate
• Cyclosporine/tacrolimus
• Some antiplatelet medicines
