Indications (Uses)

Atrocal contains atorvastatin, a statin medicine used to:

• Lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
• Lower triglycerides
• Increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol
• Reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in patients at risk.

How It Works

Atorvastatin blocks the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, reducing cholesterol production in the liver and helping remove LDL cholesterol from the blood.

Dosage

• Usually taken once daily, with or without food.
• Take it at the same time every day.
• Follow your doctor’s prescribed dose and continue a heart-healthy diet and exercise program.

Common Side Effects

• Muscle pain or weakness
• Headache
• Nausea
• Stomach upset
• Constipation or diarrhea

Seek medical advice immediately if you develop severe muscle pain, dark-colored urine, or signs of liver problems.

Precautions

• Do not use during pregnancy.
• Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or drink large amounts of alcohol.
• Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, as atorvastatin can interact with certain drugs.
