Description
Composition
Each capsule contains:
- Artemether 40 mg
- Lumefantrine 240 mg
Indications (Uses)
Artemether + Lumefantrine is indicated for the treatment of:
- Acute uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum.
- Mixed malaria infections where P. falciparum is present and susceptible.
Note: It is not used for the prevention of malaria or for severe/complicated malaria.
Mechanism of Action
- Artemether rapidly kills malaria parasites and reduces the parasite count.
- Lumefantrine has a longer duration of action and eliminates remaining parasites, helping prevent recurrence.
Dosage & Administration
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Take with food or a milk-containing drink to improve absorption.
- Complete the full 3-day treatment course, even if symptoms improve.
Common Side Effects
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea

- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal pain
- Muscle or joint pain
- Weakness or fatigue
Warnings & Precautions
- Not recommended for severe malaria.
- Inform your doctor if you have heart rhythm disorders, liver disease, or kidney disease.
- Use during pregnancy only if prescribed by a healthcare professional.
- Avoid taking with medicines that prolong the QT interval unless advised by your doctor.
Contraindications
Do not use if you:
- Are allergic to artemether, lumefantrine, or any ingredient in the capsule.
- Have severe heart rhythm abnormalities or are taking medicines known to significantly prolong the QT interval.
Storage
- Store below 30°C.
- Keep in the original package.
- Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
- Keep out of reach of children.
