Description

Composition

Each prolonged-release tablet contains:

• Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg.

Indications (Uses)

TASIPAN 0.4 mg is indicated for the treatment of:

• Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) (enlarged prostate)
• Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), including:
  • Difficulty in starting urination
  • Weak urine stream
  • Frequent urination
  • Urgency
  • Nocturia (frequent urination at night)

It improves urine flow and relieves symptoms but does not reduce the size of the prostate.

Mechanism of Action

Tamsulosin selectively blocks alpha-1A adrenergic receptors in the prostate and bladder neck, relaxing smooth muscles and improving urine flow.

Dosage & Administration

• Adults: One 0.4 mg tablet once daily, or as directed by a physician.
• Take after the same meal each day (commonly after breakfast).
• Swallow the tablet whole with water.
• Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.

Common Side Effects

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Low blood pressure when standing (orthostatic hypotension)
• Abnormal or reduced ejaculation
• Runny or blocked nose
• Weakness or fatigue

Warnings & Precautions

• May cause dizziness or fainting, especially when starting treatment.
• Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions.
• Inform your doctor before cataract or glaucoma surgery, as tamsulosin can affect the procedure.
• Use with caution in patients with severe liver disease or a history of low blood pressure.

Contraindications

Do not use if you:

• Are allergic to tamsulosin or any ingredient in the tablet.
• Have a history of orthostatic hypotension.
• Have severe liver impairment.

Storage

• Store below 25–30°C.
• Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
• Keep out of the reach of children.
